What I'm doing to get back in shape in my 30's
I used to be someone who was very into fitness and bodybuilding.
As I've gotten older, that aspect of my life has taken a back seat to my career, family obligations, etc., but for the past 15 years or more I've been working out regularly.
The other week I looked myself in the mirror, and wasn't happy with what I saw.
I could feel the change too.
I could feel my shirt a little tighter around my stomach. I could feel my love handles when I sat down.
I'm no longer trying to be ripped and shredded, but I want to be healthy, and feel good in my body. Which I currently don't feel.
Stepping on the scale, I'm about 190lbs at 5'11. A healthier weight for me would be around 175-180, so that's my goal.
But I don't just want to lose weight for the hell of it, or do it in a way I'll gain it back in a few months.
I want to make lifestyle changes that will help me to feel better, have more energy, and drop weight and keep it off indefinitely.
Here's what I'm currently doing to get back into shape as a thirty something father, who works full time:
- Eating whole, natural foods, and tracking my calories using MacroFactor
- Working out, full body, 2-3 times a week
- Aiming to get 5k steps a day (harder than you'd think with a desk job)
- Doing mobility exercises during meetings or breaks at work.
- Doing 1-2 Kettlebell workouts per week.
