Life consists of many things that don’t matter, and comparatively few that do.
The rude coworker, the person that cut you off in traffic, the embarrassing mistake you made…
In the moment these things consume us,
But after a little time passes… we forget them totally.
Think about your last “bad day”.
Maybe a stressful day at work, or an argument with your partner.
Unless your last bad day was a genuine tragedy, you likely haven’t thought about it until now.
Because while it felt like a big deal at the time, it really didn’t matter.
And if it doesn’t matter now, it certainly won’t matter in 10 years.
I once had a coworker whose whole day would be ruined if his football team lost…
That sounds silly to some, (and relatable to others), but we all have silly things we get angry about.
We don’t wanna look back at the end of our lives, and have to tally up all the days we wasted, upset about trivial things.
Learning not to stress about the little things takes practice, but it’s worth it.
Remember:
If it won’t matter in 10 years, it shouldn’t matter today.
Let’s not sweat the small stuff, and instead put our energy into what truly matters.
